                                           Is Your Duct System Efficient

Picture
Your duct system is a major part of your air conditioning system and often unseen and ignored .The air conditioning system can run great; but problems the ducts can cause, high electrical bills, hot or cold spots , breakdowns and even much more dust and dirt in the home. Many air conditioning service technicians will never look at your ducts even when the air conditioner is working improperly.

For your duct system  to work efficiently it needs to be insulated and sealed. Inspect the system and if necessary repair it. This will help your home be more comfortable and your air conditioning and heating bills to be lower. Here are a few things to keep in mind during the inspection; whether you do it yourself or have an air conditioning contractor do it.

First look for physical damage, in phoenix most of the air conditioning systems have flex duct. How many people have been in your attic, running wiring, cables ect.
You would be surprised at how many attics have crushed , broken and even disconnected ducts. I have even seen air conditioning technicians lay on duct work while working on the air conditioner. Have your air conditioner running while inspecting the duct system; this way may feel the cold air blowing on you and help find separated duct work.
